The 9th Annual HOTpopcorn Halloween Movie Challenge

RULES OF THE CHALLENGE

Spoiler: show
  1. The goal is to watch as many Halloween-esque movies as possible during the month of October. Those brave enough make it to 31 movies will almost certainly survive the cold, frightening night of the 31st of the month. Almost.
  2. List everything you watch in here. You must also post star ratings in additional posts throughout this topic, you may also include mini reviews recommending or not recommending each of the films you watch.
  3. You may reserve your place in the thread before the challenge begins.
  4. The person who watches the most wins.
  5. Be careful which films you select to watch for the challenge, we ARE strict.
  6. At least two MUST be films that you have never seen before.
  7. A "watched film" is classified as a movie that you have given your undivided attention too, this means that films you have "watched" whilst cleaning your room, chatting on the phone or surfing the internet are NOT eligable for entry - WATCH them, don't use them as background noise.
  8. Episodes of a television show or an entire season of a TV show may NOT be included. However TV movies ARE allowed.
  9. Honesty is key. If you are not honest then you get a trick and no treats.
  10. Nothing shorter than 40 minutes in length is to be counted within the challenge.
  11. The most important rule of all - The challenge is meant to be FUN, it really is the taking part that counts.

BTW, if anyone is looking for a new Halloween movie to watch this October, I would highly recommend Goosebumps. It has every monster (and creepy character) imaginable in it, making it tons of fun, and perfect for the challenge.

I thoroughly enjoyed watching all of the Harry Potter movies again for this year's Halloween challenge. On Sunday night, we also watched the The Harry Potters You Never Met (1hr 40min) featurette after Deathly Hallows Pt. 2, which was really interesting. I'm looking forward to delving into some of the other extras too, but there are so many to choose from. Do you have any particular ones you'd recommend Padme?

Unfortunately this week has been a complete wipeout, I still have so many Halloween-themed movies that I'd love to watch, but I've had an extra busy schedule. Hopefully I'll catch up on some more this weekend!

Not a bad score this year at 27, I missed my annual Casper viewing so that will be top of my list next year :)

Great job, Batman! :^ :^

As always, I really enjoyed the Halloween challenge, but I also missed out quite a few this year: The Addams Family, Bewitched, The Boxtrolls, The Burbs, Casper, Ernest Scared Stupid, The Frighteners, Ghostbusters 1-2, King Kong, Little Shop of Horrors, The Monster Squad, The Mummy 1-3, Poltergeist, R.I.P.D., Scream 1-3 -- to name a few!

Roll on next year... In the meantime, I'd like to request that we start the Christmas challenge a week earlier than December like last year, pretty please...

All done! Another great year, thanks to everyone for taking part and especially to Phoebe for prompting me to create the topic. :)

The most horrifying film of the 2015 challenge would have to be awarded to Prince of Darkness (1987). This year I'd have to award it to The Hills Have Eyes (1977), a real atmospheric, brutal experience -- great movie. :^ :^
