Toy Story + Toy Story 2 on BD - Official Discussion Thread

Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment have announced the US Blu-ray Disc release of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 on 23rd March 2010. These will be followed by Special Edition DVD releases on 18th May 2010.

SRP is $39.99 each on Blu-ray and $29.99 each on DVD.

They look fantastic I saw the UK copies today in Hmv and they are to die for. Marty are you getting the UK releases or the US ones and are they both definatly region free?

The region one releases will definitely be locked. Have Disney ever released a BD title that is unlocked? I can't think of any off hand.

I agree that these looked really great up close. A lot better than those pics in the first post would have you believe.

Yes some of the Blu-ray's from Disney have been reigon free for example A Bug's Life, Cars and Chicken Little but the majority are region locked.

I will proberbly pick up the UK Blu-rays to fit in with all my other Disney UK Blu-rays.

They're all catalogue titles. I don't think Disney has ever released a new title unlocked. Might be wrong though.

Yes they are and you are rite but by this site Toy Story is region free no word on Toy Story 2 yet though but I still think ill go for UK Editions now unless somehow the US versions are better

Both regions are identical.

There was a change in Toy Story 2 in its theatrical release that altered a somewhat American-centric scene to be more 'international friendly'. This altered version is what we've always seen here in the UK. For the BD the scene is now the American version.

which scene is the scene in question Marty? Are you getting the UK releases or US one's?

I can't remember which scene exactly but it's the bit where a flag is waving behind Buzz in Toy Story 2. I believe it was the flag that was change on the European release. But like I said, it's back to being the normal US version on the UK version now. Which is good news.

UK versions for me. Amazon are charging slightly more for them but I know that Play.com and HMV are no longer shipping the titles with there slips.

Toy Story 2 is my favourite Pixar movie, so I can't wait to watch that one in HD.

Incase you needed any more reason to pick these up, I do believe that ASDA is currently selling both movies for £12.99 a piece. I've also heard that DVD.co.uk is selling them buy one get one free!
